Hi friends! I’m Alex, welcome to my little space on the internet where I share some of my favorite recipes and thoughts as I make my way through grad school. I’m currently studying nutrition in order to one day become a registered dietitian, yay! That’s still over a year away, but I’m currently very interested in sports nutrition, increasing food access, healthy cooking, and balanced living. Aka health and wellness without all the nit-picky food rules.
Food has always been a big part of my life. Yup I was that kid who got Emeril’s kid cook books and baking sets under the Christmas tree. I went from baking brownies, cookies, and rainbow cupcakes to only using almond flour without refined sugars because I thought that was the only way to be healthy. Now my stance falls somewhere in the middle. There are times for chocolate peanut butter ice cream, and times for banana bread made from almond flour because it tastes good and it adds some nutrients. Healthy looks a lot different for everybody and every body, so I try to stay away from the black and white thinking as much as possible.
When I’m not in school, working, or in the kitchen, I love to hang out with friends, explore Philly (where I’m currently living), and move in ways that I enjoy. Running, walking, spinning, playing in an adult field hockey league where all the 50 year olds can kick my butt, you know, the usual.
Oh and if you can’t tell, I love coffee 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. If you live in Philly, or want to connect, feel free to message me on instagram, or use the contact form on this site!
